Everything You Need to Know about PCB Design and Manufacturing
A Printed Circuit Board (PCB) are connected systems that are soldered together in an electronic device to deliver specific performance. These components have conductive tracks, pads, tracks, and other layers. Overall the manufacturing process can be quite complex.
PsiBorg is one of the leading organizations in Noida that offers PCB design services with complete reliability and trustworthiness. We have experience in handling projects from startups to corporate level organizations to help them with custom PCB designs.
Here are the interesting things You should know about PCB design and manufacturing.
• PCB designs come in different shapes and sizes depending on the electronic engineering process required in the device. Though generally, they are of green color still several other colors such as blue can be used too.
• Even a Single PCB layer can be complex. So adding more layers further complicate the manufacturing process. For instance, simple toys have 2 enough, IoT products 4 layers while 6 to 8 layers for smartphone or smartwatch.
• You must convey the right information to the manufacturer about specific PCB requirements. Number of Layers, Material with FR-2 (phenolic cotton paper), FR-3 (cotton paper and epoxy), FR-4 (woven glass and epoxy…etc.)
• Value for thickness (with 0.5mm, 1.0mm, 1.5mm, .... etc)
• Specific color requirements (Green, Red, Black, etc)
• Copper Weight (1 oz (35 um), 2 oz (70 um), 0.5 oz (18 um)…etc.)
• Gerber Fire
PCB design process starts with:
Circuit Design
It's like a blueprint that shows the connection of components and their working flow. You can do this with software tools that are optimized for the PCB design process. The model's file can help you with the schematic. You need to select the blueprint as per the vendor's need.
Here a Gerber file is created using the software tool. And you also need to prepare separately for the user interface (UI). After finishing the layout design a Gerber file is generated and handled to the manufacturer for further processing. Components with the same 2.4Ghz bandwidth can cause conflict in the PCB design resulting in unexpected behavior.
PCB Fabrication
This Gerber file is used by the PCB manufacturer to get a print of the circuit board.
Material Preparation
Once the components are selected then you should keep a check on the lead time, packaging, Minimum Order Quantity, and Loss.
Mounting the Components on the PCB
It is done through two main methods for placing these components on the PCB design with Through Hole and Surface Mount technology.
Reflow soldering attaches components with the stick. Several other methods such as Wave Soldering and Iron Soldering etc.
After the soldering is done various testing and QA methods are applied such as In-circuit test, Automatic optical inspection, and X-Ray among others.
